An Ode to Day

street folk 2 art installation by tyree guyton in detroit in black and white

Brian Day has to be one of the most inspiring and humble photographers I have the pleasure of knowing. He’s a big man with an equally giant heart, a source of the most obscure and interesting photography tidbits – just a really decent guy.

After he took this incredible self portrait among an art installation by Tyree Guyton (the man behind the infamous Hiedelberg Project in Detroit), he went on to give a detailed account of how he got the shot, and in Brian Day style, deflected the attention from himself and gave credit to Tyree.

Over the weekend, we passed by the second incarnation of Tyree’s "Street Folk" shoes installation. I had to snap a photo or two there, but I’m no Brian Day.
