If "imitation is the best form of flattery" then you can say that I have all the respect in the world for fellow urban explorer photographer Squirrel Brand aka Hi-Lite, Erik, etc. His shot X Marks the Spot was so epic, so great that I needed to replicate it exactly...I sure as hell wasn't going to actually buy a print from him!
I wasn't sure if I'd be able to replicate it as it involved high levels of dangling a camera over a ledge of a roof. But in the end I came up with a reasonable copy. I am a fraud. When I approached Squirrel Brand and told him I copied his shot, his humbleness took over him and he admitted to borrowing the shot from another fellow photographer, Tomms from Blursurfing. I guess it's the circle of life.
To give you an idea of how fantastic their image is, even my fraudulent copy of this shot is currently one of the top photos on 500px.
