I finally made it to China! First stop is Fuzhou, a "small" city of about six million people and the capital of Fujian province. There aren't many foreigners here and virtually no tourism in the city. It is in many ways the average Chinese city -- a lot of construction, rising housing costs, and modern conveniences like McDonald's and KFC. As you can see from this street scene, they are becoming quite progessive in their advertising methods as well. A sign of the times.
