Situated on a plot of land between two rundown buildings sits the beautifully tragic, yet remarkably hopeful, Hastings Folk Garden. James, who looked like the architect of this urban garden was intelligent and dedicated. The Folk Garden is a reflection of his vision, which includes art and cultural references from such unlikely places as Hesse's masterpiece "Steppenwolf". The visit to this garden gave me hope and optimism, because afterall, that's all some of us really have.
