P Mode, Auto ISO

a rare look inside a toronto meat packing plant

So I got to write about my experience at the Magnum Photos workshop I did last month with Moises Saman on my boss/good friend Eric Kim's blog. One of the most important things I got from this workshop was letting go of technical 'perfection'. As a result, I ended up shooting most of the images that week in P mode, auto ISO.

At the gallery show that showcased each workshop participant's work, I had a few people pay this photo some rather nice compliments. I told one fellow participant that this shot was done on P mode and auto ISO. Her response was a "yeah right" as if those settings were somehow incapable of producing usable images. Anyway, this seemed to be the most popular photo from my week-long photo project called Meat Locker.
